Early this morning, I finally got to dig my toes into this incredible track. Aside from running fast, taking walks is one of my favorite things, and I liked walking to the track here because we get to wander about the backside on the way. There are so many wonderful new things to see!
With everything so new, I was a little curious at first, but then I felt that great track surge underneath me as we made our way to the main track, and I was all business. I galloped a mile, and my exercise rider Dominic Terry was very pleased with how relaxed I was when I slowed down for a nice long walk home.
Game day's coming up, and I've been learning so much about the extraordinary fillies that have performed so well in the Mother Goose Stakes: Serena's Song, Go for Wand, the epic Ruffian, and Shuvee, the spectacular filly who became the first to beat the boys in the Jockey Club Gold Cup Stakes in 1970 - and, just to make a point, did it again the next year! It's a who's-who list of heroines who have rewritten the rules and inspired me and so many other fillies.
Now it's time for a nice quiet night before I take my second spin around the track in the morning. I can't wait to update all of you on all the exciting pre-races preparations! More soon...
