Curlin earned back-to-back North American Horse of the Year Awards in 2007 and 2008 and was ranked the best horse in the world by Global Timeform. His North American earnings record of over $10.5 million still stands. The son of Smart Strike thrilled with a campaign that included victories in the G1 Preakness Stakes, G1 Breeders’ Cup Classic, consecutive G1 Jockey Club Gold Cups and the G1 Woodward Stakes.
Curlin set the winning margin record in his 7 ¾ length victory in the G1 Dubai World Cup at Nad Al Sheba racecourse in 2008, and returned home to notch three more G1 wins before being retired.
Curlin stands at Lane’s End and, from his first crop to race, is the sire of 2013 G1 Belmont Stakes winner Palace Malice.
